Please extend a warm welcome to our newest member Andrea Trexler. You can reach her via email at trexlerandrea@gmail.com – and here is her photo (see attachment) and bio:

Recently arrived from Berkeley…former special education teacher and public defender…one daughter, one dog, one apartment on Capitol Hill…passionate about pottery, cooking, reading, nature…enjoy getting to know new people, sharing laughs and good times!

  2. Thursday morning’s All-Member Zoom is happening, per usual, this Thursday, August 28 at 9:30 am. Sue Lerner will send out the link and questions on Wednesday.

  3. Sunday Arboretum Walk, August 31. Meet Dick Zerbe at 9 am at the Arboretum’s Graham Visitors Center.

  4. Revision Arts (whose moving spirit is our member Barbara Oswald) Please Touch 2025 exhibit begins Saturday, September 13 at the Fogue Studios and Gallery, 5519 Airport Way South, with an opening reception from 5 pm to 9 pm. Please Touch breaks traditional boundaries by inviting visitors to touch the artwork. The show will remain up through September 27. (And see below for a special opportunity to acquire one of the show’s pieces.)

  5. Make sure you’re on the RSVP list for our 10th Anniversary Party on Thursday, September 18, at the NW African American Museum, 3 pm – 7 pm. We’re recruiting a deejay who’ll spin music from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s….The event also features a lively program of notables (Bob Anderson, Jeanne Marie Thomas, David Okimoto, Charles Heaney), mingling/schmoozing—as well as a chance to see the Museum’s amazing permanent and special exhibits! Let me know if you need a ride. P.S. No alcohol is being served, but don’t let that deter you from coming. The buffet dinner, catered by That Brown Girl Cooks will be yummy!

Sharing

Ask me about the opportunity we’re offering during the fall/winter holiday season for you to acquire one of the pieces from the show via a late fall raffle (Homecoming by artist Ann Dziok, 12” x 36” x 2”, acrylic on wood panel). We think it captures the spirit of our village. See the attached photo.
