Update on Nora Langan: Nora is doing well at home, post brain surgery. She has very good mobility and is receiving visits, meals, escort to medical appointments from our members. Call me if you’d like to help. Christian is her primary caregiver and what a great job he is doing! At this point, they don’t want unsolicited or unannounced visits or phone calls, so please just send cards, which are always so fun to receive: 233 - 14th Av E, #204, Seattle WA 98112.
Our Zoom Book Club meets tomorrow, Tuesday, August 11, at 10:30 am. The book being discussed is "The Wide, Wide Sea" by Hampton Sides. Facilitator Nancy Robb says: It is a book and a discussion I would recommend to anyone interested in learning about the first European contacts with the peoples of the South Pacific. I invite anyone who might be interested in the Book Group to join us Tuesday morning and see what we are about. Rick Grossman shared these tips on how to access newspaper and magazine articles without subscribing: There are several ways to get articles for free. The first and the one that I usually try is to go to the Seattle library website and look at the digital collection. They’re gonna have all of the major newspapers and magazines online so you can read it that way. The second way is that the article that probably interest you has interested in many others and the newspaper that first published it will syndicated it to other newspapers or other media outlets so copy the title of the article and do a search on it. It’s amazing how many of these articles end up either The at Yahoo or AOL or other places where you can see them for free.
My son Dan and his partner Debbie will be visiting for a week, beginning on Wednesday, so I may be slower in returning calls and emails. Enjoy our beautiful weather!
