  5. Rick Grossman loves this description of Sunset Grove, now streaming on PBS: “a combination of elderly amateur detectives, dry humor, and Nordic crime.” From Walter Presents, in Finnish with English subtitles. Cozy. Year 1 has 8 episodes and may require a PBS Passport...or check to see if you can get it with Amazon Prime.

  6. And a piece about an interesting elderly athlete hiking the Appalachian Trail: https://www.nytimes.com/2026/07/14/well/appalachian-trail-hiking-record-grey-beard.html?unlocked_article_code=1.x1A.8-Mu.hQD_G2uhGSAJ&smid=url-share

Monday Morning Memo Bonus:

This is for those who love poetry and those who don’t. And also for those who loved Sam Neill:

 Sam Neill, ( September 14, 1947 - July 13, 2026 )
Dr. Alan Grant to the world, winegrower at Two Paddocks to his neighbors in Central Otago, New Zealand. In the first weeks of the 2020 lockdown, alone at the vineyard, he began filming himself reading poems on his phone and posting them for strangers, his own quiet way of keeping isolation at bay. He never gave the series a name; fans called it The Self Isolation Tapes.
