Monday Morning Memo - 4.13.2026
Wider Horizons Events and Information
David Averill, our newest volunteer, grew up in the Midwest and fell in love with the Pacific Northwest—especially Madrona—while volunteering in his 20s with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. He recently retired after a career spanning nonprofit organizations and technology, helping advance tools and partnerships that support the nonprofit sector. He and his wife have three grown children. In his spare time, he enjoys fixing things, golfing, and umpiring Little League baseball. David came to us because he knew Liz Ohlson well, being her next-door neighbor for many years. Contact me if you have a need (minor home repair, tech, miscellaneous). David is one of several versatile new volunteers.

From Charles Heaney who said: Phil Gerson would have enjoyed this. It’s an interesting twist on Braver Angels and other groups trying to find consensus across the divide. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/07/opinion/political-power-citizens-assemblies.html?unlocked_article_code=1.alA.f3ll.OjgRbukQVaY7&smid=url-share
