Monday Morning Memo - 2.16.2026

Wider Horizons Events and Information

  1. Thursday morning’s All-Member Zoom is happening as usual this Thursday, February 19 at 9:30 am. Sue Lerner will send out the link and questions on Wednesday.

  2. Join the Arboretum Walk, Sunday, February 22. Meet at 9 am at the Arboretum’s Graham Visitors Center.

  3. Storytelling, facilitated by this month by Sue Lerner, is this Thursday, February 19, at 4 pm. Here is the link which will also be sent Thursday morning: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86122240547?pwd=MmT2lUrvKMf8timkiHNCAtyI2dk2XY.1  Debbie Ward, our usual facilitator, thanks all our volunteers. Storytellers for this Valentine-themed session are:

    • Anne Taylor - "Humiliations in Early Academia"

    • Patricia Henley - "My Father's Great Love during World War 2”

    • Wolfgang Kluge - "How I Courted Marian"

    • Ellen Berg - "Brach's Sent Candy"

  1. New-ish member Stephen Galey has this kind offer: I live in Columbia City and would be happy to help members in the neighborhood with errands, rides, etc. Also, I parlayed my professional experience offering a couple of hours architectural consultation to raise money for the PTA for about fifteen years and I don’t see why I couldn’t help Wider Horizons members in general by providing advice on home repair, remodeling, repairs, whatever. More, “I have limited mobility and need to make some changes to my bathroom,” and less, “My washing machine is broken.”

  2. If you’ve got mementos of good times with Phil Gerson (photos, stories, etc.), bring them to me or to Lynn Perkins who is putting together a notebook for Phil:

    • One-sided 8” x 11” page only

    • 12 pt or larger font for ease of reading

    • 3-hole punched if you can

    • With your name on it
